Carnatic Violinist

Kamalakiran Vinjamuri is a renowned Carnatic violinist known for his exceptional technique, melodic creativity, and emotional depth. Carnatic music is a traditional style of music that originated in Southern India and is known for its complex rhythms, intricate melodies, and improvisation. Kamalakiran inherited his passion for music from his grandfather, Sri. Parthasarathy Iyengar, and began receiving formal training from Smt. Malladi Vijayalakshmi. At the age of seven, his father, Sri. Subhash Vinjamuri, began teaching him the violin, and since 2006, Kamalakiran has been under the tutelage of the renowned Sangeethakalanidhi A. Kanyakumari.

Kamalakiran's training has not been limited to Carnatic violin. He also learned Western Classical violin for ten years from Diana LeGrand and tries to incorporate those techniques into his performances as well. His versatility and willingness to experiment with different genres have allowed him to collaborate with musicians from diverse backgrounds, showcasing his adaptability and range.

As a cultural ambassador, Kamalakiran aims to make Carnatic music accessible to all. He has performed extensively in Asia, the US, and Europe, introducing new audiences to the rich cultural heritage of South India. He has played in prestigious theaters in the US, including the Kennedy Center, and has released numerous albums, the latest being with Yarlung Records.

Kamalakiran's mastery of Carnatic violin has earned him numerous accolades from prestigious institutions, including Sri Mylapore Fine Arts, Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. He has been recognized as the best violinist in the Music Academy in Chennai for the 2014 Spirit of Youth series, as well as for the 2016 and 2017 Music Seasons. He has toured India, USA, Canada, Europe, Singapore, among many others. As a soloist and accompanist, Kamalakiran has collaborated with leading artists across generations, earning a reputation as an exceptional musician. His passion, dedication, and talent continue to inspire and delight audiences worldwide.
